Hopi ear candling, known as Thermo-Auricular Therapy, has been used for thousands of years. Hopi ear candles are named after the native American tribe who introduced them to the West. They are used for both spiritual and physical healing.
The 'candles' are hollow tubes made from cotton flax and impregnated with pure beeswax, honey, sage, St. Johns Wort, chamomile plus additional essential oils. There is a filter system within the candle to ensure that no residue can enter the ear.
The hopi ear candles work by causing a light suction action (chimney affect) with the flame generating a massage sensation on the ear drum from the flickering flame. They create a feeling of warmth, balancing the pressure in the ears, forehead and sinuses.
It is beneficial for such conditions as earache, headache, migraine, glue ear, colds and flu, tinnitus, stress, compressed ear wax and rhinitis. Traditionally ear candles were used to cleanse and harmonise different energy fields of the body.
There are some medical conditions for which hopi ear candling is not advised:- Perforated ear drum, grommets or other drainage device, allergy to candle ingredients, on a course of antibiotics for an ear infection, epilepsy, 1st trimester of pregnancy, cochlear implant, mastoidectomy, fever.
The session will begin with a full consultation especially regarding medical history to ensure there are no contraindications to treatment.

While the candle is burning you will experience a warm feeling and a mild crackling noise .... this is normal. The time the candle takes to burn will differ from ear to ear and from treatment to treatment, both ears will be treated at each session.
The session will finish with a relaxing face massage.
After care advice will be given following the treatment and any recommendations for future treatments.
The session will last approximately 1 hour and carried out in the comfort of your own home.
